VanMoof x Fragment Design:

It’s hard to find something that the ‘godfather of streetwear’ hasn’t made his mark on when it comes to contemporary fashion. Connecting hip-hop with design and streetwear culture, and collaborating with some of the world’s most influential brands, Hiroshi Fujiwara has curated modern-day consumer culture in the eyes of many. The streetwear pioneer’s Fragment Design has revamped everything from earphones to sneakers; all prized personal possessions – but nothing that could get you from one side of a city to another. Until now.

A blackout frame with the Japanese streetwear label’s signature lightning logo sits alongside Dover Street Market’s emblematic watermark. Race stripes and large lettering on the bikes’ downtubes boldly identify the limited-edition collaboration. A deeper shade of glossy black gently darkens the iconic frame of our award-winning VanMoof S3 model.

The ultimate streetwear must-have: Why Fragment Design dropped a limited-edition VanMoof

At just eighteen years old, Fujiwara took Tokyo by storm. He became a standout in the Harajuku street fashion scene, accredited by many as having brought hip-hop, streetwear, and the Stüssy brand to Japan in the 1980s. Fragment was born out of his first brand, Good Enough at the turn of the century. So, why a VanMoof e-bike? And why now? Well, Fragment Design is no stranger to shattering expectations and tapping into cultural moments. Take a collaboration with Pokémon, for starters.

Popularizing the idea of brand collaborations in the ‘90s, Fujiwara’s Fragment Design has always been interested in beautiful personal items. But it was more than just our look and feel that caught Fujiwara’s eye. Our bikes don’t just function as a better means to get from A to B: as our riders will know, a VanMoof is much more than that. It envelopes you in the action of a city, connects you with the sensory experience of weaving through its streets and parks. It gives you the chance to grasp the endless opportunities a city holds. And for a brand born from essential street culture, that’s like gold dust.
